A Madison student has launched a company that strives to create change. His company is mainly focused on issues here in NYC, but he is planning to work with members of cities across the country to improve communities.
The name of his company is “From Us” with the slogan “From Us, The People”. The company’s website is fromus.org and is where most of the action takes place. People can sign up and bring awareness to issues in their community, and propose solutions. The student's focus is not only on the website, but also on the company’s social media accounts, with the username “fromusthepeople” on all platforms.
The student’s company plans to partner with local elected officials to find effective and viable solutions to big issues that affect all of us. Some of these elected officials include Senator Andrew Gounardes, Senator Brian Kavanagh, and city council member Inna Vernikov.
On the company’s website, the most pressing issue so far is in regards to the safety of the New York City subway system. With many incidents in the last few months involving commuters falling or being pushed onto subway tracks, it would make sense that New Yorkers are concerned about their safety when going to work or school.
The company will also have representative clubs in some of New York's best high schools, including ours, in which students will discuss and create solutions to various problems in their communities. This will be a great way for students to involve themselves in impactful contributions that will improve the lives of our city's people.
